The Dining Scene: Stonefire, Mount Kisco

Located at the corner of Lexington Avenue and Moore Street in Mount Kisco, Stone Fire occupies what was once a residential home that was repurposed into a restaurant.  Most of the spacious yard was converted for parking without sacrificing the landscape and shrubbery on the curbside.

Stone Fire is known to have a regular following due to its impeccable service, pleasant ambience, and good food.

There are three dining areas:  outside patio, first floor dining, and second floor dining.  There is also a private room that can seat about 8-10 people.  All of the dining areas have a pleasant décor with enough space for social distancing.

Early dining on a Friday

My dining companion and I dropped in for a late lunch/early dinner on a Friday afternoon.  The host, Justin, graciously greeted us and led us to the upstairs dining room per our request.  Our table was at a sunny spot in front of a bay window.  Our server, Jay, graciously gave us the menu highlights and pleasantly answered our questions.

We started our meal with Calamari Fritti and marinara sauce.  The generous portion of calamari was perfectly fried with no trace of grease.  The texture was crunchy on the outside and delicately cooked on the inside.

For our main dishes, my dining companion chose Chicken Parmigiana and I the flame grilled Flat Iron Steak.  My companion is on a mission intentionally comparing Chicken Parmigiana served in restaurants in Mount Kisco and the surrounding areas.

The CHICKEN PARMIGIANA was a deliciously fried organic chicken breast served with Maccheroni rigati pasta. The delectable fresh mozzarella basil tomato sauce bathed the chicken and pasta imparting a perfect balance of herbs and garlic flavors.  My FLAT IRON STEAK was equally satisfying.  The steak was nicely seared on the outside as I favor medium to well-done.  My dish came with arugula salad dressed with a well-balanced balsamic vinaigrette.  The accompanying truffle fries were pleasantly crispy and deliciously topped with freshly grated parmesan cheese.

Overall, Stonefire was a pleasant and satisfying dining experience. They delivered good food, friendly service, and refreshing ambience.
