The Katonah-Lewisboro Community

Best Places To Live

The Indian Hill community is situated within the town of Lewisboro with a Katonah postal service.  As such, it is within the highly rated Katonah-Lewisboro school district - Increse Miller Elementary School, John Jay Middle School, and John Jay High School.  The district has been consistently voted one of the best places to live in New York.

2018’s Safest City in the U.S.

For the third consecutive year, Lewisboro has been voted the #1 safest city in America.  With a population of approximately 12,862 there was zero violent crime reported in 2018 and a negligible 0.16 property crime per 1,000 households.  The community is served by three fire houses, the town police, and the state police.

Work, Shop, Play

To serve the residents who work in NYC, Metro-North Rail offers a train stop at Golden’s Bridge which is approximately 8 minutes from 5 Mohawk Trail. Monthly and daily parking are available in three lots on the crossroad of Interstate 684 and Route 138.  There is another train stop on Katonah Avenue in the hamlet of Katonah.  Commute time to the city is about 60 to 75 minutes.  For those who prefer to drive,  the community has easy access to I684 and the Sawmill River Parkway.

The town provides a variety of sports and healthy living activities all year for youth, adults, and seniors.  Each season’s parks & recreation brochure is available in the town hall which is distributed free of charge and offered online, as well.

There are five parks with facilities like ball fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, swimming pools, hiking trails, and playgrounds for the little ones.  Residents can register online for parks & recreation activities such as

  • Basketball
  • Pool/Swimming
  • Wee Ski
  • Camp
  • Adult Programs
  • Senior Programs

Although Indian Hill has a rural, suburban feel the community offers several shopping districts, the closest of which is the North County Shopping Center in Golden’s Bridge.  Just off Rte 22 and Rte 138, this shopping plaza houses Acme Supermarket, Dunkin Donuts, Subway, an Italian eatery, a beauty salon, nail shop, card shop, and wine shop. For mall shopping, there is the nearby Cross County Shopping Center.  Many area residents also cross the border to Ridgefield Shopping Center in Ridgefield, CT, which is only 10 minutes away from town.

With its highly rated schools, active park district, shopping centers, and commuter facilities, it is no wonder that this little piece of heaven has been voted the best place to live three years in a row.
